First Trek in the Sahyadri: Beginner Advice

31 Jul 2026 · 2 min read

Choose a suitable route, prepare your body and enjoy your first trek without unnecessary pressure.

A successful first trek begins with an honest difficulty choice. Look at distance, elevation, exposed sections and weather—not only social-media photographs. Start walking regularly two weeks before departure and practise stairs at a sustainable pace.

What travellers should know

On the trail, stay with the group, drink small amounts regularly and tell the leader early if you feel unwell. Trekking is not a race. A steady pace gives you time to notice the landscape and reduces injury risk. Finish with confidence, then progress gradually to longer routes.
